A recent study by Rights and Resources Initiative shows that between 1.65 and 1.87 billion IPLCs live in the world’s important biodiversity conservation areas. AICA congress seeks to demonstrate the role that IPLCs play in conserving these lands, resources and biodiversity on which their ways of life and cultures depend on as they advocate for a people-centered conservation.
